We can estimate the scale of Jirisan Mountain with rivers, peaks and hills. Jirisan Mountain contains three rivers, Dukcheungan, Eumcheungang and Hwangcheungang, which rise in Jirisan Mountain, more than 20 mountains, almost 50 famous observatories and rocks. Also, it once contained almost 350 temples and hermitages according to records. We have countless legends and cultural assets.

Scenery 2 Valley of Daewonsa

The Daewonsa Valley is a beautiful valley showing mystique with deep and thick forest and large rocks. It was called as Youpyeong Valled named after village name and is called as Daewonsa Valley because the clean image of bhikkhuni temple is added to. The Yupyeongri course staring from Bambatgol to Cheonwnagbong, through Chibatgol Farm, habong and jungbong takes 5 hours and 30 minutes. The water of Deawonsa valley rises in many foots of mountains from Cheonwnagbong in Jirisan Mountain to Ssukbatjae, Saejae, Wangdeunjae, Bammeurijae and Woongsukbon through Jungbong and Habong and flows along the 12km valley. The valley stream gathering in Sinbatgo, Jogaegol and Bambatgol and passes Saejae and Weoigo village with becoming bigger and bigger and finally have very plenty of water at Yupyeong-ri, Samjang-myeon, Sancheong-gun in which the bhikkhuni temple, Daewonsa is located.

Scenery 3 Royal azalea in Hwngmaesan Mountain

The name of Hwngmaesan located in Beoppyeong-ri, Chahwang-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Kyeongnam is originated from the name, Hanmoisan meaning big mountain. When it was written with Chinese character, it was changed to Hwngmaesan. The Hwngmaesan Mountain, the last steep peak of the Taebaek Mountains is the place the Muhak monk, a patriotic monk in Koryo Dynasty practiced asceticism and is so beautiful as to be called as small Geumgangsan Mountain because of cliff with strange rocks which spread to east-south direction from Hwangmaebong in San 1 beonji, Beoppyeong-ri, Chahwang-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Kyeongnam. “Hwang” of Hwangmaesan means “wealth” and “mae” means “preciousness”. They mean “richness” in aggregate. Also, many famous people visited here because of the belief that everyone can realize one wish only with sincere pray. The Hwngmaesan Mountain changes with seasons. The Azalea and Royal azalea decorates mountains with pink in spring. The valley stream coming from wide foots of mountains becomes plentiful to form Kyeonghogang river in summer. Flame grass blooms white flowers like lighting candles in fall. In winter, the white landscape is formed with much snow which is rare in south regions.

Scenery 4 Royal Tomb of King Guhyeong

The one domestic royal tomb made of stones. That is the Royal Tomb of King Guhyeong. This is believed as a stone tomb of King Guhyeong, the 10th king of Gaya. The King Guhyeong is also called as Guhae or King Yang and is a great-grandfather of Yusin,Kim. He became a king of Gaya in 521 and ruled as a king for 11 years until he gave his kingdom to King Beopheung of Silla in 532. There are two theories about this tomb; stone pagoda theory and tomb theory. The reason of stone pagoda theory is similar stone pagodas were in Andong and Uiseong. The reason of tomb is a record in Sancheonjo, Saneummyen, Donggukyeoigisungram, saying there is a nine stone dragons in the mountain in the 40-ri of hyeun and they have steps on all four sides and are believed as a royal tomb by the public.

Scenery 5 Beautiful scenes of Gyeonghogang river

Gyeonghogang river is a about 80 ri(about 32km) river from Gangjung, Eoseo-ri, Saengcho-myeon, Sancheong-gun to the Jinyangho lake in Jinju. Becasuse Gyeonghogang flows along with the No. 3 national highway and a highway between Jinju and Hamyang, we can see the beautiful scenery of river in a car. Also, there are fast flows but no turbulent rapid torrents in Gyeonghogang because it is wide and has no large rocks. These are good conditions for rafting, a new water leisure and it is known as only one rafting site in south of Hangang river.

Scenery 6 Namsa Yeadamcheon

The Namsa Yeadamcheon located around the entrance of Jirisan Mountain and Hahoe village in Andong are traditional hanok villages in Gyeongsangdo. The people said Gyeongnam was famous Namsa village. Like this, the village was famous as a yangban village and traditional hanok village. The reason why we have especially amiable and old-world feeling for this small village located around the entrance of Jirisan Mountain in which people lives normally in recent days when the traditional houses disappear gradually, preserve the traditional houses and welcome warmly people who intentionally visit is maybe they still preserve perfectly the emotion which can be seen over old wall and life style.

Scenery 7 Historical site of Nammyeong Josik

This is a historic site of Nammyeong Josik, a famous Confucian scholar in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. Though many government positions were given to him, he refused all of them and spent all his life for study and education of the next generations. This historical site is composed of two parts; there are Sancheonjae, Byeolmeo, Sindobi and tombstone in Sari and Dukcheonseowon and Sesimjung in Wonri.

Jeongchuiam in the cliff of Daesungsanjung is known to be founded by Euisangdaesa and famous for Jeongchuiam altar portraits of Buddha. Jeongchuiam in the cliff with strange rocks is a temple located between cliffs with strange rocks of Daesungsan Mountain located in 40 ri north of old Dansunghyeon and is called as small Geumgang from the past because the auspicious aura could be comparable with Geumgang.
